Hazlitt 1852 Vineyards has released its best-selling wine brands, Red Cat and White Cat, in a three liter Astrapouch. An innovative new packaging technology, the stand-up, refrigerator-friendly pouch is attractive to consumers due to portability and increased shelf life of the wine after opening. The Red Cat and White Cat Party Pouch also offers an eco-friendly reduction in packaging waste.
Additional benefits of this non-breakable package include faster chilling and offers no waste for at home or on-premise service by the glass. It provides a cost-effective and lightweight alternative when compared to four 750 ml or two 1.5L bottles.
The Red Cat and White Cat Party Pouches will be available in Connecticut, Delaware, District of Columbia, Florida, Maryland, Maine, Mississippi, New Hampshire, New Mexico, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina as well as at Hazlitt 1852 Vineyard’s and Hazlitt’s Red Cat Cellars wine shops and online.
Red Cat is considered the number one selling domestic wine in New York State. Exceeding 200,000 cases in annual sales, the winery is seeking new distribution opportunities throughout the United States to expand the availability of its brands.
Additional information on the Astrapouch is available here.

Sheldrake 2009 Rieslings Named Among the Top 100 Values
“Sheldrake Point makes several nervy rieslings as well as a few reds on its lakeside property in Ovid, NY. The vines are just a stone’s throw from Cayuga’s shore.” – Wine & Spirits
In the June issue of Wine & Spirits Magazine, Sheldrake Point Winery was named a “Value Brand” for the third consecutive year! Our 2009 Riesling and 2009 Dry Riesling were among those named from the Finger Lakes as great values.

A Taste of the Vineyard
Saturday, June 2nd
11 am, 1 pm, and 3 pm
We are excited to share our vineyard and winegrapegrowing techniques and panoramic view of Keuka Lake with you! More information about the event is on our web site.
An article about the event in the May 25th online issue of the Rochester Democrat and Chronicle describes more about our guests from Goot Essa cheese: ”A 2009 book by Liz Thorpe, The Cheese Chronicles: a Journey Through the Making and Selling of Cheese in America from Field to Farm to Table, rated Goot Essa as one of the best artisan cheeses in the nation. The creamery, whose name means “good food” in German, is run by an Amish farmer in Howard, Pa.”
There is still time to make your reservations ($20 regular pp, $15 case and wine club members pp) and save your spot at 315-536-3147!
I also wanted to let you know that we are featuring a limited number of picnic lunches, made fresh by Jane Russell of Around the Corner Catering in the tasting room on Saturdays and Sundays! Jane has been in the catering business for 30 years, makes the lunches fresh for us on the weekend, and uses local ingredients as much as possible in her menu (which varies seasonally). If you would like to order picnic lunches for a small group, simply contact us by Wednesday before the weekend and we’d be happy to order for you from Jane. A selection of what you might find in the tasting room will be updated on our web site.
Enjoy the Spring. Look forward to seeing you soon!
