Dr. Konstantin Frank Vinifera Wine Cellars – Recent Awards

Dr. Frank’s wines have recently won several prestigious awards.

The Dr. Frank 2011 Dry Riesling took the top honor at the Ultimate Wine Challenge in New York City. Out of the many Rieslings entered in the competition, Dr. Frank 2011 Dry Riesling scored a “93 Point” rating and “Chairman’s Trophy”. Their 2011 Dry Riesling was also noted as being “Excellent” and “Highly Recommended” at this competition.

The Ultimate Wine Challenge provides expert evaluation of wines by the most respected experts in the wine industry. Results of the Ultimate Wine Challenge are considered by retailers, restaurateurs, bartenders and distributors to be among the most reliable and credible in the industry.

Chateau Frank’s 2006 Blanc de Noirs has quickly become a “superstar” wine and the most award-winning sparkling wine ever produced in the Finger Lakes. Most recently, Chateau Frank’s 2006 Blanc de Noirs won a Gold Medal and was rated “90 Points” at the Los Angeles International Wine Competition. Additionally, this wine won Platinum medal at the Critics Challenge Wine Competition. The wine was also a “Finalist” at the Ultimate Wine Challenge in New York City and received a rating of “93 Points”. The 2006 Blanc de Noirs won “Chairman’s Award” and a Double Gold Medal at the prestigious Riverside International Wine Competition as well. At the Taster’s Guild International Wine Competition, the 2006 Blanc de Noirs won a Double Gold medal. This exceptional sparkling wine produced in the methode champenoise is a testament to the quality of wines produced at Chateau Frank.

Dr. Frank 2011 Grüner Veltliner Featured by the Today Show

For the second time within the past several months, one of Dr. Frank’s wines was featured by the Today Show! Edward Deitch, a Senior Producer and writer for NBC (specializing in wine) was quoted as saying, “the 2011 Grüner Veltliner from the Dr. Konstantin Frank winery is the best American example I have had.” He expanded on this by saying, “For one thing, it shows true varietal character, meaning that it tastes like Grüner Veltliner with its signature floral and spice notes. Beyond that, it shows unusual complexity with a range of tastes, from green apple and lemon-lime to subtle cucumber and a hint of white pepper.”

Hazlitt Awards

Hazlitt 1852 Vineyards wines continue to excel in wine competitions.

The 2010 Vidal Blanc Ice Wine received a gold medal and the title “Best New York Wine” in the Big E Wine Competition.

Their Ice Wine also shined at the New York State Fair, receiving a double gold. Hazlitt 1852 Vineyard’s Port was awarded a gold medal as well.

The Vidal Blanc Ice Wine has previously won three other double gold medals as well as five gold medals in other competitions including: Jerry D. Mead’s New World International Wine Competition, the International Eastern Wine Competition and the Riverside International Wine Competition.

Swedish Hill Continues to Bring Home the Gold at International Wine Competitions!

Swedish Hill brought home thirteen more golds from the Los Angeles International, the New York State Fair, the Golden Nose and the San Francisco Chronicle.

In addition to being awarded the 2012 “Winery of the Year” honor at California’s Riverside Convention, Swedish Hill Winery is proud of each of its 37 gold and double gold medals won at various international wine competitions across the nation so far this year.

Most recently Swedish Hill brought home thirteen more golds from the Los Angeles International, the New York State Fair, the Golden Nose and the San Francisco Chronicle.

Swedish Hill won four gold medals at the Los Angeles International for its 2011 Riesling, 2011 Cayuga White , 2011 Vidal Blanc and the Spumante Blush which was also titled “Best of Class.”

The Spumante Blush also scored high at the New York State Fair with a double gold medal. Also winning golds at this competition were the 2011 Dry Riesling, the newly released 2010 Cabernet Franc, and the 2011 Marechal Foch.

The Golden Nose Wine Competition, held at the Canandaigua Wine and Culinary Center, awarded Swedish Hill three gold medals for the 2007 Optimus, 2010 Late Harvest Vignoles and the 2011 Vidal Blanc.

Continuing its winning streak, the Spumante Blush also won a gold medal at the San Francisco Chronicle, making that its seventh 2012 gold award. Swedish Hill’s 2010 Vignoles Late Harvest also scored high at this competition bringing home a double gold medal.
